Sepsis Awareness Month 2021 is now officially over. And what a month it was!
Coverage started with a bang on 1st September – in the press, on TV, and on the radio – and continued thick and fast throughout the whole month.
September was all about raising awareness of sepsis and the symptoms and that was precisely what we did – from Portsmouth to Perthshire.
The charity has never seen media interest like it – a real tribute to the hard work of the whole team and particularly our fantastic PR consultant Sarah Mooney. There is a strong sense that more people than ever will now be aware of the 5 key symptoms of sepsis and know when to seek urgent medical attention.
And we had amazing support from our volunteers across the whole month – too many of you to name individually – as you spoke to the media. We are particularly grateful for the huge support offered by the Reckless family and to Kimberley Bradley, who shared her sepsis story so powerfully at our World Sepsis Day launch event on September 9th.
We also focussed on what makes Sepsis Research FEAT unique as a charity: the extraordinary research that we fund at the University of Edinburgh. So we took the opportunity during Sepsis Awareness Month 2021 to launch our brand new research and Sepsis Awareness Month videos.
And then there was the fundraising – from our Visufund ‘In memory’ balloons to Facebook fundraisers, the Brighton Marathon to a Tough Mudder, via football matches, and more besides.
Thank you all for everything you have done to help raise awareness this Sepsis Awareness Month 2021.
