Sepsis Research FEAT is delighted to have started supporting a new research study at the University of Edinburgh – one with real relevance to the phenomenon known as ‘brain fog’ experienced by many sepsis survivors.

Dr. Zoeb Jiwaji is an intensive care doctor working at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and a clinical lecturer at the University of Edinburgh. His research work is focused on investigating the biology underlying brain dysfunction in patients who are critically unwell via a post mortem study.

The study aims to investigate the causes of the brain dysfunction or ‘brain fog’ commonly experienced by patients following sepsis.

Initial involvement from the charity has been in the planning stages of the study as Dr. Jiwaji speaks to supporters of Sepsis Research FEAT who have lost loved ones to sepsis, in order to formulate the approaches he will make during the research phase.
