In spring 2021 former Shropshire Star racing reporter Bob Williams raised nearly £3,000 for Sepsis Research FEAT by walking the virtual distance from Lands End to John O Groats – a total of 874 miles.

Bob says that he amazed himself and everyone else by completing the trek in just 17 weeks.

After a short break, he then decided to walk back! Taking a couple of months longer on this occasion, he still managed to walk around 2,000 miles in a year. As he said himself, “Not bad for a 75-year-old”.

Now, undeterred, Bob is completing yet another virtual walk for Sepsis Research FEAT – by virtually walking Route 66 from Chicago to Los Angeles – a distance of over 2250 miles.

“It will be tough and if am to reach my goal by the end of 2022 I need to average almost 50 miles a week.

My daughter Caroline has bought me a new pair of walking boots to speed me on my way.  My current boots are in a sorry state after my efforts so far”, he says.

We are completely blown away by Bob’s amazing fundraising and his support for the charity, all of which is being done in memory of his beloved wife Jean who died of sepsis in 2018, and on whose birthday – 12th December – this latest fundraising was launched.

If you’d like to watch his progress or support Bob in this extraordinary endeavour you can do so via his JustGiving page.

Our thanks and very best wishes Bob from the whole team here at Sepsis Research FEAT – your support is so appreciated.

And good luck!
