Strep A is in the news currently and is understandably a cause for concern, particularly for parents of young children.

Here, Scotland’s clinical director Jason Leitch seeks to reassure parents regarding Strep A infection, the risk that it poses and the action needed if you see symptoms of it.

Please do remember, however, that serious Strep A infection can be a pathway to sepsis. It is imperative that if you see any of the symptoms of sepsis in children, becoming noticeably worse, you should seek urgent medical attention.
