Sepsis Research FEAT is delighted to have been able to support two new summer internships in Professor Kenneth Baillie’s team at the Roslin Institute, University of Edinburgh.
Nureen Hanisah Mohamad Zaki is an international student from Malaysia, currently completing an MSc in Bioinformatics at the University of Edinburgh who will be writing a dissertation on sepsis with the Baillie Lab as part of her degree.
Nureen was previously a Research Technician for 3.5 years at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor. She also completed her undergraduate degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology at the same institution.
Enric Catà Socias is a second year bachelor’s degree with Honours student in Biological Sciences at the University of Edinburgh, seeking to specialise in genetics. He is also as second year bachelor’s degree student of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the Universitat Rovira i Virgili in Catalonia, Spain. Enric has participated in five courses at the John Hopkins’ Centre for Talented Youth, undertaking a genetics course at Dickinson’s College. He hopes that during his time at the Roslin Institute he will acquire further hands-on experience, which will assist in his plans to gain a PhD in Genetics and Genomics.
Once complete, the work of both interns will make an important contribution to Professor Baillie’s GenOMICC research study into sepsis.
